Thursday 1st October: Blang

The very fine Blang record label is celebrating its tenth anniversary with two shows at the new 12 Bar Club - and we're proud to be playing at the first of these nights. We're part of an excellent line-up which also includes Matt Dolphin, Lucy's Diary, Sergeant Buzfuz, David Cronenberg's Wife and JJ Crash. Blang have put together a quite magnificent 18-track compilation CD from their roster of artists (and yes, there's a Slate Islands track on there)...a copy of this CD is included in the entry price for the gig. Blang @ The 12 Bar Club, 203 Holloway Road, London N7 8DL. Thursday 1st October, doors 7pm, music starts 7.30pm (we're on at 8.15pm). £5 entry. Further details here

Monday 15th December: Murphy MacLean

Murphy MacLean is Polly's side project: a duo with Joe Murphy of Sergeant Buzfuz. They'll be playing at the Under The Influence 'Alternative Christmas Service', where each act plays two of their own songs plus one Christmas-themed number. Also on the bill will be The Antipoet, Alice Offley, Jakubowski, Simon Cleary, Hannah Harris and Rose Hotel. Under The Influence @ The Boogaloo, 312 Archway Road, London N6 5AT (Highgate tube). Monday 15th December, 7.30pm, £3 entry.

Thursday 2nd October: Murphy MacLean in Luton

Debut gig for Polly's new side project, a duo with Joe Murphy from Sergeant Buzfuz (on this occasion, also featuring Éilish on violin!) We're one of the support acts for the extraordinary Simon Munnery; also on the bill at this 'Utter!' Spoken Word event are performance poets Lee Nelson, Richard Tyrone Jones and Shadwell Smith, plus singer-songwriter Amy Simpson. The Bear Club, 24a Mill Yard, Guildford Street, Luton LU1 2NR. Thursday 2nd October; doors 7.30pm, show 8pm. Entry £8 (£6 concs).

Saturday 4th October: Merge Festival (CANCELLED!)

(Stop press - very sadly, the organisers have had to cancel this event because such heavy rain is forecast that the outdoor Riverside Stage just wouldn't be able to cope.)

We'll be playing at 3pm on the Riverside Stage - a converted 1950s airstream trailer which will be parked outside Tate Modern, by the Millennium Bridge. Our 40-minute set is part of a folk-flavoured afternoon inspired by the forthcoming film The Ballad of Shirley Collins. Free music by the river on a Saturday can you resist?

Edinburgh: Wed 20th & Thur 21st August

Polly is heading up to the city of her birth to play a couple of short sets without the rest of the band, as part of the delightful Stand-Up Tragedy series running throughout August on the PBH Free Fringe. These excellent variety shows feature storytellers, poets, comedians, musicians and others all performing work based - however loosely - on the theme of 'tragedy'. On Wednesday 20th August, Polly will have a ten-minute solo slot; on Thursday 21st August, she'll be sharing a ten-minute set of duets with Joe Murphy of Sergeant Buzfuz. The shows are an hour long and run from 7.30-8.30pm each night. Entry is free. Stand-Up Tragedy @ The Banshee Labyrinth (ballroom), 29-35 Niddry Street, Edinburgh EH1 1LG
