Friday 22nd November: Bad Santas book launch

We'll be playing a 20-minute set at this unusual book launch for Bad Santas and Other Creepy Christmas Characters: 'a gleefully dark and well-researched' exploration of European Yuletide folk customs by Paul Hawkins (who - being a musician as well as a writer - has chosen to feature music as well as readings at his launch event). Also appearing will be Stairs To Korea, Extradition Order, Paul Hawkins & The Awkward Silences and Tim Ten Yen; as well as Santa Claus himself! StandUp Tragedy: Thursday 4th July, Dogstar

Half the Slate Islands (Polly and Andy) will be playing at the rather fine Stand Up Tragedy night, which is basically a variety night featuring storytellers, comedians, poets, musicians and others all performing work based (loosely or otherwise) around the theme of tragedy. Also on the bill will be Josie Long, Nish Kumar, Emily Capell, Daniel Barker, Frog Morris, Daniel Simpson and Jen Adamthwaite. Thursday 12th September: The Good Ship

We've been invited by the delightful Albino to play at an 'urban folk' night they're hosting at The Good Ship in Kilburn. Saturday 18th May: The Songs of The Incredible String Band

Polly will be making a solo appearance at the Green Note on Saturday 18th May, as part of a special event in which a range of acts will perform songs by the Incredible String Band to mark the launch of the 2013 edition of 'Be Glad: an Incredible String Band Compendium'. (New, revised, tenth-anniversary edition of this acclaimed book, edited by Adrian Whittaker.) On the bill will be Malcolm Le Maistre, Norman Lamont, Jowe Head and the Demi-Monde, Joe Murphy (from Sergeant Buzfuz); and others to be confirmed.
